Located in the central part of the town of Lawton, north of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, it is the largest community in southwest Oklahoma and home to the University of Oklahoma Law School and Oklahoma State University. The city is also connected by US Highway 62, which connects it with Oklahoma City, the second largest city in Oklahoma with a population of about 1.5 million. Platt College in Lawon is located just a few miles south at the intersection of US Highway 62 and US-62 and is home to the university's elementary and graduate programs and a number of other colleges and universities.
